NKF launches toolkit for kidney patients to influence NHS neighbourhood plans The National Kidney Federation has published a new briefing to help kidney patients shape NHS integrated neighbourhood delivery plans amid significant healthcare restructuring. With the NHS facing financial constraints in 2025/26 these neighbourhood plans will be at the heart of determining how kidney care is delivered locally. This is a crucial moment for kidney patients to ensure their needs aren't overlooked. As services are reorganised, specialist kidney care must remain accessible. Local Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) will develop these plans, bringing together hospitals, GPs and local authorities to commission healthcare services. Patient input is essential to inform these decisions. To support effective engagement, the NKF has created: A concise briefing on the neighbourhood plans Template letters for Kidney Patient Associations and individual patients Guidance for communicating with ICBs While the NKF advocates nationally, local patient voices are equally important and we hope those resources prove useful in ensuring those voices are heard.
